Wintipak celebrates groundbreaking for new production hall in Halle (Saale)
Kabelsketal / Halle (Saale), 18 November 2025
Wintipak has taken a significant step in the strategic expansion of its European operations. On 17 November 2025, the company celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the next construction phase at its production site in the Star Park industrial area in Halle (Saale), Germany. This milestone marks the beginning of a multi-year investment programme aimed at increasing production capacity, improving supply security, and supporting long-term growth across Europe and beyond.
The new building represents an investment of around €35 million and includes 11,800 m² of additional production space as well as 800 m² of mezzanine area for offices, technical infrastructure, and storage. Once completed in June 2026, the expansion will boost the site’s manufacturing capacity by approximately 30 percent, creating space for future job growth and strengthening the company's presence in the region.
A significant milestone for Wintipak and for the region
The groundbreaking ceremony gathered high-level representatives from politics, business, and the community. Among the guests were Sven Schulze, Minister for Economic Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt; Egbert Geier, Mayor of Halle (Saale); and senior leaders from Wintipak, including CEO Markku Vauhkonen and Board Member Jeff Bi.
Minister Schulze highlighted the importance of the investment:
“This renewed expansion by Wintipak is a clear commitment to Saxony-Anhalt as a future-oriented industrial location. It demonstrates the international competitiveness of our region and shows how companies can grow successfully here.”
Sven Schulze, Minister for Economic Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry of Saxony-Anhalt
Mayor Geier emphasised the strong relationship between Wintipak and the city:
“Wintipak’s decision to expand again in Star Park highlights the strength of our business environment and the trust companies place in the region, our city, and our infrastructure.” Egbert Geier, Mayor of Halle (Saale)
Efficient and future-focused construction
The new production hall is being realised with the support of Goldbeck as general contractor. Through its industrialised construction system, Goldbeck ensures an efficient, fast and high-quality implementation that meets Wintipak’s functional and sustainability requirements. Prefabricated components produced off-site help minimise construction time and enable Wintipak to progress rapidly with the expansion of the Halle facility.
A strong commitment to Germany and customers worldwide
Wintipak has been operating in Halle since 2013. Over the past decade, the site has developed into a high-performance production facility and a key contributor to the regional economy. The expansion reinforces Wintipak’s long-term strategy of building resilient, flexible, and sustainable supply chains in Europe — while supporting customers around the world.
With global demand growing for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible packaging solutions, the Halle site plays a central role in supplying producers of milk, juice and other beverages across several continents.
“With this new production hall, we are investing in the future of our company and the region. It reflects our commitment to innovation, growth, and long-term stability for our customers and employees.” Markku Vauhkonen, CEO Wintipak
Driving innovation and sustainability in aseptic packagingThe expanded facilities will support the development and production of next-generation aseptic carton packaging solutions with improved sustainability and material efficiency. This includes new approaches to renewable materials, advanced recyclability, and energy-optimised production processes.
By creating additional space for research, development, and future machinery, the expansion prepares the Halle site to meet evolving market demands and regulatory requirements across the food and beverage industry.
The investment not only strengthens Wintipak’s technological capabilities but also reinforces its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable growth.
