The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40, becomes applicable on 12 August 2026. It introduces new requirements for packaging placed on the European Union market and places greater emphasis on sustainability, recyclability, transparency and documentation throughout the packaging life cycle.

As a provider of aseptic carton packaging material solutions for the liquid food and beverage industry, Wintipak has carefully assessed the requirements of the new regulation and their relevance to its products and customers.

Although Wintipak supplies unformed packaging material in roll form rather than finished packaging, the material properties established at this stage are important for demonstrating the conformity of the final packaging. Packaging producers therefore require reliable information and documentation from their material suppliers.

Based on currently available technologies and assessments, Wintipak’s packaging material achieves a recycling rate of more than 90%. We continue to monitor the development of recycling technologies, infrastructure and the delegated acts expected from the European Commission.
